Learn about the longstanding partnership between Pickles and an exceptional charitable initiative

Pickles has long held a meaningful relationship with the School for Life Foundation, an organisation focused on providing education and activities to developing communities around the world. The School for Life Foundation keeps children at the heart of everything they do, and their 2023 Gala Ball was held with the goal of raising funds to contribute to the education of children in rural Ugandan communities. Pickles is a long time supporter of the organisation and was a major sponsor of the 2023 event. While also there to enjoy the evening, members of Pickles were in attendance on the night to provide support and expert auctioneering for the charity auction portion of the evening.

“School for Life does some unbelievable work bringing educational opportunities to the children who need it most. Education is the solution to poverty - it empowers and changes communities.”

James Chauncy

In early May, School for Life hosted a black tie gala ball charity event, bringing together over 650 of Australia’s most prominent members of the corporate community to encourage charitable giving. The elegant evening was held at the Star Event Centre, with comedian and presenter Hamish Blake acting as the host on the evening. To entertain the guests, musical acts Tarisai Vushe and Furnace and the Fundamentals graced the night with memorable performances.

Throughout the night, many attendees bid big on items to support the cause. Longtime supporter of School for Life and Pickles’ National Sales Manager, Trucks & Machinery, James Chauncy, was tasked with auctioneering on the night. A manager by occupation and an auctioneer by heart, James enthusiastically encouraged bidders to dig deep and succeeded in attracting a great deal of high bids.

“It was fantastic to see everyone get involved, jumping at the opportunity to help. We raised so much and it goes to the most amazing cause.”

James Chauncy

The goal for the evening was to raise $1 million in funds, which would match the fantastic efforts of last year’s event. Some of the incredible donated items included a new car, fine art, jewellery, holiday and photography packages, corporate box football tickets, cruises and more! James hosted the animated auction on the night, and was happy to report that all items raised substantial funds for the cause.

School for Life managed to raise $1.9 million dollars for their cause during the event. With such success in 2023, exceeding $2 million at their next event in 2024 seems likely.
