Although 2021 was full of ups and downs, the luxury and prestige car segment continues to trend up, with no lockdowns or lockouts halting the headway. On site auctions have not taken place since March 2020, however the digital auction space continued to prosper, with nationwide interest.

Pickles ran two online auctions over the last months of 2021, gaining 1.4 million impressions across the various media channels employed to promote the sale. A total of 23,000 users actively participated in the digital inspection process utilising our detailed condition reports and driving over 1,200 registrations over the two events.

As anticipated, the luxury and prestige cars on sale were quickly sold, with some of the key attractions from the first auction including a 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider M which sold for $212,500, a 2019 Dodge Challenger which achieved $111,500, and a 2020 Volkswagen Touareg which was sold for $155,500.

Other notable sales included a 2018 Audi RS6 which achieved $147,500, a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport which sold for $120,500, and a 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA (sold for $81,500). The standout of the event was the repossessed Lamborghini, which achieved $346,000.

Pickles is a frontrunner in the luxury and prestige cars segment, and the recent online auction concreted Pickles’ leading position. Following the auction, Pickles’ client LeasePlan Australia provided an additional two Bentley Continental GT Coupes to be auctioned in an exclusive Christmas Bentley Auction, successfully selling each car for over $391,000 each.
