Buying at Auction FAQs
Get answers to common questions about buying at auction.
Yes. All you need to do is create a MyPickles account before you can start bidding.
We have daily online and live auctions. Online auctions are eBay-style, where you can bid on the majority of our items. At the end of the auction, the bidder with the highest bid wins the item. To bid in a live auction, you will need to download the Pickles Live app. A live auction features an auctioneer and live bidding through the app.TBA means “to be announced” - the items are not yet available for sale.
This means the item has been allocated to an upcoming auction.
This occurs when the highest bid did not reach the reserve price. In this situation, the item is held back and may be placed in another auction at a later time or the vendor may decide to remove the item from auction.
A referral is when an item does not reach the reserve price at auction and the highest bid is referred to the vendor who will decide whether they wish to accept or decline the highest bid, or provide the bidder with an opportunity to place another offer.
This means you were a bidder on an item and have been given the opportunity to place one final bid at a pre-determined price to win the item. Clicking on the button or link will take you to MyPickles where you can securely review and submit the bid.
Your notification preferences for Outbid and Referral notifications can be adjusted by logging into your MyPickles account and opening the Settings menu.
If you have made an error while bidding, please email info@pickles.com.au and your situation will be reviewed.
An item is sold once the highest bid has reached or exceeded the reserve price.
*Please note: If you are the highest bidder and the reserve has been met or passed, you have legally entered into a contract at that stage and are responsible for purchasing the item. Failure to proceed with the transaction may result in you being banned from participating in any Pickles auction for 12 months.Follow our easy five-step process to go from auction winner to item owner:
