Max-Bid Pickles Live

Get answers to your questions on how to place a max-bid via Pickles Live.
Max-bid is a feature that allows you to set a predetermined maximum bid for an asset before the auction starts. This way you can stay in the game without waiting for the lot you are interested in to appear. This feature allows Pickles Live to bid on your behalf in small increments up to your maximum bid. The Pickles Live bidding systems will always attempt to have the buyer win the auction at the lowest price possible.

For example, if you’re interested in a car and decide the maximum amount you would spend on this car is $20,000, you can set a max-bid before the auction starts. So once that car has been lotted a few days before the auction, you can set your maximum bid to $20k. When the auctioneer reaches this lot during the live auction, the system will bid up to your set amount on your behalf. You will be notified that bidding has started and if you get outbid. The feature will never bid above the figure you set as your max-bid limit for that item.
 

Once the auction is fully lotted you can enter a max-bid from the Pickles website. Before the auction starts simply click on the bid button on the item you wish to bid on. Then fill in your max-bid amount and confirm bid. After the auction has started, your max-bid can be entered directly into PicklesLIVE as per the existing functionality.   

During the PicklesLIVE auction, you can set your maximum bid price by manually entering your max-bid next to the ‘Bid Now’ button. 
Yes, you must be a registered bidder to set your max-bid limit. This is so the Pickles Live systems can attribute bids and wins on your behalf without the constant need to re-enter your details. It also makes it easier for you to track your whole bidding journey. 
Yes, you’ll be notified if you win or are outbid. The auctioneer or other bidders won’t see your max-bid, as it remains confidential and only activates during the auction.

Yes you can. If the auction has not yet started you can find all your max-bids in your My Pickles account (click on My Bids and navigate to the My Bids for PicklesLIVE page). Here you can modify & even remove your max-bids.   

If the auction has started, you will need to login to PicklesLIVE and modify the max-bid on the asset directly.  If you reduce your max-bid while being the highest bidder, the change won’t affect your current bid but it will apply if another bidder places a higher bid. If you increase your max-bid, the change will take effect unless the lot has already been sold. Note that if you're the highest bidder, removing the max-bid won't reduce your current bid but no further bids will be placed on your behalf if another bidder participates. 

When multiple buyers place the same max-bid amount, our system recognises the person who bid first as the highest bidder.

If multiple bidders set the same max bid, the winner is determined by factors such as other live or max-bids, the auctioneer's increments and the lot's starting bid. Only the two highest max bids will actively compete in the bidding. You will not receive immediate notifications if you are outbid. However, an email with the outcome will be sent once the sale concludes.
 
Your max-bid may not secure the asset if factors like the starting bid, bidding increments and other bids come into play. The max-bid feature lets you set a maximum amount you're willing to pay but it doesn't guarantee that amount will be reached. The bid will increase only as needed based on the auction’s conditions.
Yes, you can set max-bids on multiple auctions at the same time.  Follow the steps outlined above to set your max-bids. Once you’ve set your max-bid and saved it the amount will appear next to the lot in the lot list for that auction.  
Unfortunately, the reserve price is not disclosed. We recommend setting a max-bid that reflects the amount you're comfortable paying for the asset.
Following the sale, you will be able to log into your MyPickles account and view invoices for any lots you are the successful bidder for. An email will also be sent notifying you of the outcome of your bid.
This can happen if there are multiple max-bids on the asset and the other bids are higher than yours or if your max-bid is lower than the current bidding amount. We recommend setting a max-bid that reflects the amount you’re willing to pay to stay competitive.
