How much is the deposit?

At each auction, a deposit percentage or amount is set. The deposit amount is dependant on the type of auction - please contact us for more information.

Make sure that you are aware of the amount of money you will need before bidding at an auction. The deposit secures the item that you have successfully bid on. Deposits must be paid for by cash, bank cheque or EFTPOS.

What are the screen size requirements?

To bid via Pickles Live, you must have your screen size set to at least 800x600. If your monitor is set for less than 800x600 and you are a MS Windows user, you can increase your resolution by following these steps:

1. Minimize all windows
2. Right-click in a blank area on your desktop, and in the menu that appears, select 'Properties'
3. In the 'Display Properties' control panel, click on the tab labelled 'Settings'
4. Find the 'Display Area' sliders for Screen & Desktop and increase them to 800x600
5. Click the Apply button and follow the instructions to keep your resolution at the new setting

If you encounter any problems then consult your monitor reference manual or video card manual for help.

Why was I charged a $1 pre-authorisation fee?

When a credit or debit card is added to a My Pickles account the card details are validated by the bank charging the card with a $1 pre-authorisation. This amount never eventuates into an actual charge on the cardholders' account - it will disappear within 5-7 days. Any time the credit card details are changed or updated on the My Pickles account this pre-authorisation will occur again.

Why can't I access Pickles Live from my place of employment?

When using a company network to participate in a Pickles Live auction the Firewall needs to be configured to permit outbound connections. Pickles Live connects to a remote server on two internet sockets during an auction. These are:

  • TCP socket 6789 for video
  • TCP socket 8000 for audio

Please contact your network administrator and have these ports opened.

Why can't I connect to the Pickles Live Auction?

If you see the following message then please check the internet connection as it maybe slow:

Welcome to Pickles Auctions!
Measuring internet speed...
Current internet speed: 14.9 Kbytes/sec.
Can't connect to milp.pickles.liveglobalbid.com - please wait...
This is a factor which is due to the internet provider (your phone company) and overall internet traffic. At slow speeds sound may jump at times and the picture of the item sold may drop out.

Why can't I hear any sound?

Your computer must also have a sound card installed (see the minimum requirements page). Do not forget to check that your speakers are plugged in and turned on!

Why is the bidding page stuck on the first lot?

The auction has not started yet. Once it is started you will be able to hear sound streaming through and the pictures of the car will change. Click the Refresh option on the bidding page if you believe the screen has frozen.

What do I do if I get to the bidding page but I don't see anything?

Make sure that your computer system meets the minimum requirements.

What fees are involved in purchasing an item via Pickles Live?

You should be aware that appropriate processing and internet bidding fees will be added to your item purchase price.

Click here to view the fees.

What do I do if Pickles Live is experiencing technical difficulties?

If the incident occurs in the first 20 minutes of the auction and the problem has not been resolved, the auction will be delayed for a further 10 minutes. Pickles will announce for participants to fax or email the lots they are interested in bidding on. We will then contact you via phone so you can still bid live on the lots.

If the issues have not been resolved the auction will recommence without Pickles Live. Pickles Live will recommence as or when the problem has been resolved.

Throughout this process the Auction Clerk/Auctioneer will continue to inform you of developments. If you have further enquiries, please contact our Service Desk on 1800 005 336 or email support@pickles.com.au.
