The last two quarters of auctions were a busy time for Pickles Prestige and Luxury vehicle teams. Whilst the winter months leading in from the end of the financial year are generally quieter, as vehicle demand slows, we saw the market gaining strength from early September and strong results at the Pickles Luxury auctions. We held Luxury sales in Melbourne in August, Sydney in October and our inaugural Luxury auction at Brisbane in November, with all three exceeding expectations.
Here are just a few of the highlights from these auctions:
* A 2015 Ferrari F612 Berlinetta sold for $574,000 in Sydney - breaking the record for the highest price achieved at a Luxury auction. The buyer was a Queensland political figure.
* A very rare 2015 BMW i8 Hybrid sold on the same night for $186,000.
* At our inaugural event in Brisbane, the top-grossing vehicles were a 2007 Ferrari F430 Convertible selling for $190,000, and a 2011 Maserati Grancabrio selling for $142,000.
Aside from the Luxury auctions, our Prestige auction venues - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth - held over 60 prestige auctions during this period. We are finding solid demand for good stock consistently outweighing supply. We see strong interest particularly for late-model, German-branded SUVs, like the small- to mid-size Audi Q3 and Q5, BMW X1 and X3 and Mercedes GLA models, as well as some Japanese models like the Lexus NX range.
In September 2016, Pickles was selected by both BMW Sydney and BMW Melbourne dealerships to conduct their Trade-in Tenders moving forward. Both dealerships are factory-owned and had run internal tenders fortnightly for many years; with Pickles, we are continuing these on their schedule, but with the added advantage of the use of our website and dealer portal to promote their vehicles to a larger buyer base, as well as the ability to utilise our Prestige and Luxury auctions when inventory is available.
